Divorce Decrees
In Missouri, the Divorce Decree, when recorded, is sufficient to transfer the property as between the former spouses. Mo. Ann. Stat. § 452.330.6. The Decree must contain a sufficient legal description. Lance v. Lance, 979 S.W.2d 245, 248 (Mo. Ct. App. 1998) citing Marriage of Swofford, 837 S.W.2d 560 (Mo.App. S.D.1992); Halbrook v. Halbrook, 740 S.W.2d 687, 690 (Mo.App. S.D.1987); Fields v. Fields, 584 S.W.2d 163, 167 (Mo.App. W.D.1979). The Divorce Decree may also award real property by incorporating the terms of the Settlement Agreement between the parties. Mo. Ann. Stat. § 452.325.
